, from Southern New Zealand Summary: A large Korean fortress dating back about 4-500 years. Find the fortress gates on the Seoul city side of the mountain and pick a trail or a ridgeline to head down. This fortress alone makes the trip worthwhile because the outer fortress walls are about 4-5 metres high. Anyway as Stiff boy said this is MTB mecca. The best selection of trails you can imagine being so close to a large city. the 'Filthy Three' (Stiff, Jeffro and Kiwi Bee)having discovered them and ridden them numerous times. email one of the boys if you're landing in Seoul for a few days or more and we'll put an adrenaline smile on your face, rear-tyre rubber burns on your butt and more. The whole southern side of the mountain we're still discovering. NO hikers, total getaway from the city and the concrete and some very sexy trails to ride down. It will take you approx. 5 full weekends to ride every trail there. Only negative is hikers on Big Mac but being Koreans and never having seen foreign boys on bikes they're very friendly and will get out of the way pretty readily. Sometimes you have to be careful because sometimes they don't think to get out of the way. Other negative is there is sometimes a lot of cars heading up to the mountain top (it's a shortcut to the other side and a popular picnic area). As such you have to drive past all these poor buggers waiting in their cars and occasionally cars will drive past you a little too close for comfort. Recommended Route: From Sansong station (pink line) in the city of Seoul simply head uphill toward Namhansansong. There's a sealed road and if you want to hitching a lift in a bongo truck is pretty damn easy. A large Korean fortress dating back about 4-500 years. Find the fortress gates on the Seoul city side of the mountain (west gate) and pick a trail or a ridgeline to head down. The best selection of trails you can imagine being so close to a large city. Other recommended trails in the same area: Kwanak Mountain and Acha Mountain
