Ridden Trail: Ridden Once

, from New Zealand Summary: This is great fitness training and no small skill is required to stay on your bike on the way up. About 1/3 of the track is very steep, most of us had to walk at least some of these bits but one guy rode most of the way up. There is a crater at the top where scree jump can be indulged in, great fun. The way down is a case of how fast can you handle. As the track starts to level out at the bottom it becomes super fast with rain ruts and rocks providing a technical challenge. It took us 2.5 hours to get up and around 15 mins to get down. Recommended Route: Follow the track, up...then back down Other recommended trails in the same area: The Forest below Rotorua is a blast, with groomed tracks that border on BMX at time, huge burms, bigs jumps after downhills and plenty of technical stuff including riding along logs to get over a stream if ou are really good.
