When you first ride this area it seems as though it is nothing but fire roads, which is great for beginners, but if you search a little or ride with people who know the area...you will find a ton of great trails. This area is great as it is close to base and you can get a great ride in, in a short period of time. From base, if you look for the trails, it is about 20 miles round trip and will give you a good workout. The trails consist of a bunch of good climbs and some decent downhills in a nicely woooded area. This area is good for either a hardtail or full suspension bike. This is also a great place for beginner through advanced riders to ride.

Trail Directions
From Yokota, go out the East gate, turn left and follow that road for about a mile, the road comes to a "Y", stay to the right and follow for another 2 or 3 miles. From here you turn right, then ride about 40 feet and turn left. That road will dead end into a busy crossroad with a stop light at the intersection, turn right, then an immediates left up a small road...follow that road until it dead ends, then turn left onto a fire road...from this fire road there are many trails to choose from.

Summary:
The RES rules. I have been here for a while and this proves to be one of the best riding spots near Yokota. There are a ton of trails....plus many old trails that many do not know about, that a few buddies and myself are cleaning up. At the Res....each day is better than the next.

Summary:
Easy to get to from Yokota. Loop should take about 1-1.5 hours from the base. Not too challenging if you stay on the road. Lots of paved areas and hidden trails to explore.

Recommended Route:
You can do it clockwise or counterclockwise for variety.

Summary:
I have enjoyed many hours of riding the trails in this area. There are lots of different trails offering riders with different skill levels the ability to find at least a couple trails that will challenge them. This area has everything from flat fire roads to steep descents / climbs. It is within riding distance from Yokota AB and if you know you way around you can go all the way to the reservoir and back for a nice 28Km ride before work. I do that ride three times a week and ride the trails on the weekend for fun. The more I ride this area the more trails I find.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Across Tama River, the area known as Fenceline is cool too.
