Ridden Trail: Every few months

Weekend Warrior Summary: What can I say about this trail that hasn't already been said about Afganistan? It's bombed out and depleted. I have ridden this trail a few times. In fact it was one of the first I rode in Japan. Not bad until you know better. The quick way up (From the ropeway) will make your legs scream and the long way (musashiitsutkaichi) will make you walk half the way because its unridable except downhil and then only sometimes unless you have 6" plus front and rear suspension and some crash gear :) Recommended Route: I recomend you keep driving (or riding) if you have the stamina down to the end of route 33. turn right and ride/drive to the end and turn up the hill. this is the trail head and it leads up to MT. GOZEN it has all the good parts of the HINODE ride and none of the bad. There are about Three different approaches to the same area and they all connect and fork off to other interesting trails and I have tried them all. I will be glad to talk on a one one one basis with interested parties. Other recommended trails in the same area: I know of a secret trail near Tanzawa lake that is 100% rideable (OH MY GOD) email me for details.

Weekend Warrior Summary: Hino is a great ride, and each time you do it, it gets better. It does have some tough climbs and some wicked tree infested downhills. But it is one of the best rides near Yokota. Most groups drive 2 cars, one to take the bikes up to the trail head and the other is parked down near the bus station, where the ride ends. I like to ride from the bottom up and do the entire ride...but it is tough to talk people into it....as it is a tough road climb...only to start a tougher climb in the dirt.

Racer Summary: My old training grounds. Start at Yokota Air Base, up and down and back to Fussa in under two hours. Only broke two hours once, trained there for years. I'll be sad if I never ride it again.

, from Tokyo, Japan Summary: This is a very rigorous ride. The first hour is climbing the whole way with that last 20 minutes in the granny. Then for the next 1 1/2 hours it's up & down and down the rest of the way. Some parts are very technical with 1 to 3 foot drop-offs, lots of roots and big washouts. Since I don't like drop-offs, especially those preceeded by a big root, this trail can get too technical for me at times. But overall it's a great ride. total round trip if you bike it the whole way is about 2 1/2 hours. Recommended Route: Start at Itsukaichi Train station, climb and pass the onsen then loop back around to the station.
