The tracks have something for everyone, from BIG climbs and drops, slippery and technical creek crossings, fast fireroads, lots of spider webs...., to picturesque singletrack.
Rides through the forest are great in any weather due to the surface of the tracks. Singletracks can get messy in the rainforest-type setting when wet, however most of the forest is rocky and hilly, which provide great runoff for water, and provide excellent traction.
The recommended route offers a bit of everything. Starting off, there is a great climbs to challenge the most experienced of riders along the track to Radar Mt., a short blast downhill (with an optional fireroad bushland detour) then to the main entrance. From there a singletrack dubbed "Road Rage" will take you through a peaceful forest setting (bar the highway noise). Following this track is a section that does get a little overgrown quicky, but again ensures great singletrack. The next section is a buzz - very fast and reasonably flat 4WD trail with some great cornering. The hills return for a short burst around the boundary of the forest to the rear maintainence entrance. Another fast downhill will greet you, which is well earned, followed by a creek crossing that can get very slippery. Yet another uphill slog and a left turn at the top will see you back at the Atkinson Rd entrance and very satisfied.
Many thanks to Jason for showing me around...
Entry via Atkinson Rd, follow hilly fireroad over Radar Mt., then down to Official Entry...follow boundary of forest back around to Atkinson Rd. Repeat as many times as possible - if pain persists, do not induce vometing. Ride some more.
