This is a downhill trail that was going to be used in the NZ Nationals untill the bottom half of the track that went through forest got destroyed by gale force winds! It will be re biult in some short time (minding that this was posted on 2/27/01 so it cant always be a short time) Its is full of Small drop offs, a major drop off (also an alternate path), Logg jumps, water jump and quick banking type turns ETC (Most of that stuff was in the forest) And on the other side of the valey was the alternative National course that they used for the finals because lava flows bottom half got destroyed so check that out also! And for more information on the lava flow, please go to http://mountianbike.co.nz, there is a couple of pics, and sort of a map! Enjoy this track and dont get hurt!

Trail Directions
If you are in christchurch, get to summet road along the top of the port hills. You will find a valey called bowenvale valey(If you look, you can see lots of trails) So if you are at the top of the valey and looking down at it, the trail is on your right of the valey. You should find a trail (Hard to give directions) Anyway, ask the local MTB riders!

Ooohhhhhh Yeahhhhhh!!!!! Cranking fast downhill. Mostly single track from the Summit Rd. Awesone fast, quite narrow in sections, some gnarly steps but mostly just cranking fast. I haven't ridden this one since I moved away a couple of years ago and I heard the forest at the bottom was blown away (literally)! Even without the bottom section this is one of the best downhills on the Port Hills. Suitable for anyone from beginner / intermediate to advanced (it all depends how fast you want to crank it) So...Charge up that cone and point yer bike DOWNHILL!!! (Still doesn't compare to the gnarly single tracks in the North Eastern United States) - NAM rocks!

Recommended Route:
There's only way to ride this one - DOWN!
Drop off the Sunnit Rd into the Bowenvale Valley

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Wharfdale track at the back of Oxford - the best MTB in Canterbury.
