This would have to be the most craziest, funky downhill in the Cairns area. All the locals ride this every day. It has short steep drops, fast moto runs and technical sections with small bridges built into the trail. Apperantly it was designed by the same guy that built the 96 Worlds course (and Mudcows videos/World Cup Dual designer/Olympic course builder and local God) Michael Ronning and Sean McCarroll trains on this hill (I met them training there last year) it is a fast and very demanding downhill, nothing like I have at home in Birmingham. There is about 40 downhills in Cairns, one day I will return to do them all!!!

Summary:
We are dam lucky to have so many kick ass tracks in Cairns. Kuranda has everything your dh rider wants. I Ride this track every week and every ride makes me like it even more. Its got some nice jumps, drops, roots, rock, off camber sections, heaps of parts for opening it up and pinning it. Its a track that you dont need to pedal to go fast on, just stay off brakes and go!! Be aware that people do use track to walk up occationally and there is an access road which the track crosses so keep a lookout. A good indicator if your ripping down the hill is that the car takes about 7 to minutes to reach bottom so if you get to bottom before you've done well! Also, you can take the piss out of the car driver for being to slow!!
Have ridden alot of places like Mt stromlo, Thredbo, NZ and can honestly say that we are so very lucky to have tracks of this quality in Cairns!

Recommended Route:
Up Kuranda range, stop at lookout and take turns driving with you mates. To easy

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Worlds track - smithfield
Waddlebla - Coppalode dam road
Palmers - Brinsmead
Robsons track - Gillies range
Christals walking track - Gilles range

Summary:
Choise Ass track starts off with a few jumps and some drop offs and towards the end its nice a fast with a few roots to piss you off. Dont worry about the dog if it bites your tube the lady will buy you a new one. There are a few ways to go but the all lead to the same ending. Enjoy the 2nd best track in cairns.

Recommended Route:
Drive up the Kurnada range till you get to the second lookout and your there. Get a mate with a ute that is willing to drive you up and pick you up at the bottom for another run.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
marinos hill, 96 worlds Course, Stinky Penguin

Summary:
A great downhill track with a bit of everything. Lots of technical bits over roots, rocks and logs, some off camber corners, fast runs with a couple of small jumps, excellent dropoffs -1 six footer if your game- and plenty of trees to dodge. You don't have to be a downhill god to give this trail a go. Experienced riders with a good full suspension bike -I ride a 98 K2 Proflex Beast- will have no worries. Other riders just get off and walk the harder bits, however it's not a track for beginners.

Recommended Route:
Head up the Kuranda Range to lookout, then back to right-hand curve about 100m below.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Robsons Track. Lots of nifty places to explore around the Tinaroo Dam area.

Summary:
this has to be one of the most insane tracks that i've ridden in the cairns area. most people who ride think it's even better than minjin fast as single track and excellent technical sections this track has it all. cheak out the mudcow's 2 vidio to see the best mountain bike footage ever filmed by local god Glen Jacobs of Michael Ronning riding the track. what else can i say one of the tracks prefered by some of the fastest riders in the world.

Recommended Route:
cruise up the range till you get to the look out and find the track from there

Other recommended trails in the same area:
waddleblah, minjin, rocky dingo, minjin access
