Trail Directions
From Gowan RD, go along Compton RD, heading east until it looks like your in the boonies, you should come up to a service station on the corner and a train bridge up ahead, turn left down this road. Follow this road until you come to a sign saying Acacia Picnic Area or there abouts, turn into this picnic area and park your car or keep riding, toilets and water taps aswell as benches are provided. Ride west in this area until you come to some signs telling you some tracks, follow these till your heart is content as there are a lot of choices, my favourite is the trail up towards the rocks lookout, its got huge rocks and some benches for a bite to eat, look out over the rest of the bush and then head off again, there are plenty of trails, including the Calamvale Quarry but the rangers were kind enough to provide signs so you can make your own decision. Have fun, no motorbikes are aloud but you might see some anyway, watch out for walkers and wildlife, you'll come across some wallabies and kangaroos among others

Summary:
Updated

Recommended Route:
The Kameruka street entrance is not an ongoing viable option due to the encroaching housing estate.
The main entrance for MTB's is the Illaweena Street picnic area, less walkers there and closer to real MTB tracks with less chance of an unexpected meeting on a corner. But always be polite please !
From the two gate entrances either go right along the fence (east) to the flat area or go straight (north) up the fire road from the bridge till it gets flat, ride 150m and turn right.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
All of them.

Sounds like you haven't been in the forest proper yet, that sounds like the Calamvale Quarry side. Follow the powerline fire road to its highest part in the South, then take a left into that fire road system. Many. many singletrack.
Email me for 2 guide riders....he lives in Calamvale.

Recommended Route:
The forest is over the ridge behind the quarry (heading East)

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Parkinson, along Logan Motorway heading to Ipswich. Many, many km's.

Summary:
Just like to say that I have just returned from my first ride in Karawatha and it rocks. Lots of LONG fire roads as well as some excellent singletrack. Unfortunately, the forest is now split by the new motorway. Orientation is easy as you can either come out on one of the roads or see the power lines running through the middle of the forest. Will definitely be returning in the near future.

Summary:
Sorry about the mistake, to make it easier, from Compton Road, turn into Acacia Road and then turn left into the Acacia Park area and follow the directions above.

Recommended Route:
This is not a review, rather a notice of a mistake in my first review on this trail area, instead of turning left down the road with the petrol station on the corner, you turn right, this is heading east or from gowan road.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
try the bush on the north side of compton road
