Great Ocean Walk

Average Rating:    (1 of 5)

No. of Reviews: 1

The Great Ocean Walk has just opened. It starts in Apollo Bay and travels along the coast away from Melbourne (west). Although it hasn't been signed 'no bicycles', numerous park rangers have confirmed that bikes of any sort are not allowed on the trail and that an on-the-spot fine applies.

Some of the single-track is great, but a good amount of the walk actually goes along the beach, which is impossible to ride. Please don't ride the Walk.

A much better alternative are the superb trails in and around Forrest in the Great Otway National Park, between Apollo Bay and Colac. I highly recommend the trails, and the expert trail has great log rides. Check out parkweb.vic.gov.au for more details. There are currently 30km of trails, with 20km to be opened soon.

Please don't ride this trail, it's for walkers only and some parts are unridable. For a challenge, try the official mountain bike trails around Forrest in the Great Otway National Park. Check out parkweb.vic.gov.au for more details.
