Once out of your car, take your bike to the Nobelius station plattform. Get a huge run up heading towards the forest, take a 90 degree turn about 20 feet after the platform finishes, take the largerst of the 2 drops on the right, head straight down the hill and vere left, follow the track. At the end, take a left, go accross the gully, take the second track on the right after the dip, and go down fast. All tracks take you to the lake.
Once you go through the only gate at the car park.....the track you are on goes around Emerald lake. If you follow that and up to your right, there is a nice 10-15 foot jump, but if you look down the hill to your left, you will come accross several single track, downhill sections, pretty short, but excellent for practise.
There are drops, fast lines, fast corners, roots etc.
If you ask the rangers, they can give you a map of the cross country course (National titles being held here).
For those alert riders, there are secret jumps in the forest below emerald lake road.
From Melbourne, take the Sth Easton Freeway, exit @ Wlleington Rd, follow straight to the end, turn right
and "T" intersection, and head towards Emerald. You will see Clematis pub in front of you, save that for later. Cross the Puffing Billy train tracks, go through the first round about, then turn right at the second round about. Follow the road around to the right, and turn left down a dirt road just BEFORE the puffing bill tracks. Follow to the end. (Nobelius train station)
You could catch the train to Belgrave station, then catch puffing billy or the Gembrooke bus from there, but.........I don't know....just drive.
