Mt Baldy DH

A hidden track built by local MTBers over the past couple of years. It has a fire break as an access road that can be ridden or used for shuttle runs. This track has it all; fast sections, technical sections, drops, a road gap, berms, you name it. It is about 1.5km long (I''ve never measured it, but this is a guess), and is often ridden by novices as well as experts as there are chicken lines around all obstacles. If you''re ever in Atherton, it''s definitely worth checking out.
If you know where Rifle Range Rd is, head past the shooting range along the gravel road for about 5km then turn left onto a single track. If you're not looking for it you'll miss it! If you get lost, ask the good people at the local bike shop.
Summary: A great DH ride and great training for riders of all levels. I've ridden it hundreds of times and it never gets boring. Each run is challenging. The surface is a tacky dark coloured dirt with a few sprinkles of rocks here and there (keep an eye on your tire pressures for pinch flats, but if you're got fat DH rims you'll be right!). You've got to check it out for your self.
Recommended Route: As above
Other recommended trails in the same area: Kuranda DH is pretty sweet. So too is Robson's, Palmers, Marino's and any of the tracks off the Copper Load (I think that's how it's spelt) Dam road.
