Saddleback Mountain

Ride or drive up Saddleback mt, and when you reach the summit, there are some trails that go in the south western direction. I believe it may be prohibited to ride on these sections - do so at your peril. You will find the main one as soon as you reach the end of the road. Ride them, they are soily or muddy and run straight down thru cow country. Shteep $hit! Alternatively, for speedfreax: Turn the bike around and fly straight down from the direction that you came from. Reach speeds of 100km/h on the paved descent. Watch out for horses, cows and cow$hit. Oh, and cars as well. It will be the biggest rush you can have on a paved road. Anything short of top end brakes (of all varieties) are useless. Once you commit yourself (at least after leaving the car park/summit), thats it!

Trail Directions
Take a train or drive to Kiama, approx 120KM south of Sydney on the coast. Drive or ride up to Kiama High School and continue striaght over the bridge to the mountain (looks like a ded end street). If you are gonna ride up the moutnain (paved road), u r in for one steep climb. There are a few flat spots and dh sections but the last several kms are gonna break ya legs! Better to go up by car IMO.

Summary:
you cruise for a bit then you come to a gate you can ride around. from here its some awsome fun. with water bars that you can get some air off at high speeds. continue on and you pass you come to a small uphill and three more gates. there is a track to the side that bypasses them but its easier to lift the bike over. from here its downhill for about 3kms of loose gravel. (however when i was there last the council was there laying down tar. this means a much smoother ride but looses the affect of firetrail.) you then come out at foxground road. which is another 4km of sealed road with some f*#kin scary corners. there are some uphills but your momentum will carry you over them no worries. unless you are able to be picked up i wouldnt continue past the first uphill on the sealled road. from there it is about a 1-2 hour slog back to saddle back carpark. if you are getting picked the driver will need to go back down to the princess highway and drive futher south till they come to foxground road. meet them somewhere along there. it only takes about 30mins to get to that intersection on the bike so you will most likely be there before your ride. this is a ride for the person who loves speed with a little extra challenge. i recommend a dualy because it makes for a smoother ride but a hard tail is fine especially if you have to ride back up

Recommended Route:
get driven to the top of saddle back mountain. once there ride past the telephone signal phone poll things and you will see a fire trail going down the hill. if you are getting picked the driver will need to go back down to the princess highway and drive futher south till they come to foxground road.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
none to my knowledge
