, from melb Summary: KEEP THE TRAILS ALIVE Recommended Route: Please do not ride the 1000 steps , this section and like many other trails in the dandys are restricted for walkers only and lets keep it this way. If people go and disobey this simple rule all trails will be banned in the national park for riders! KEEP TO TRAILS THAT ALLOW RIDERS, AND LETS KEEP RIDING IN THE DANDYS. RESPECT OUR NATURE AS THIS IS WHY WE LOVE TO RIDE THROUGH THE BUSH... ENJOY

, from Knox Summary: Awesome country! Quite steep in places but still bloody enjoyable. Stay off the 1000 steps walking trail! It will be suicide for you and the future of mountain biking in the area! Recommended Route: Either start from the national park picnic area, or ride through the residentail area at the back of Upper Ferntree Gully. Once in the national park enjoy the miriad of fast well graded fire trails, that will take you through to Tremont and the One Tree Hill picnic ground! Other recommended trails in the same area: Belview Tce

, from Melbourne Summary: Another review that suggests using a very popular walking track for mtbing. DO NOT use this track if you have any interest in maintaining access to the many open trails in the Dandenongs. It is totally unnecessary, and unsafe for both you and the walkers to hoon down this track. It has recently been setup with memorial plaques to the Kokoda trail, which is likely to draw even more walkers to it, seeking a contemplative bush experience. Hurtling mtbers will not present a very desirable image. Stay off it! Recommended Route: None, take Belview Tce instead Other recommended trails in the same area: Belview Tce, Outlook Rd, Hansen Track, Range Rd/Ridge Track

, from Wantirna Summary: My advice is to ride the Belview tce track which starts at the base of the park (on the left)and ride to the top of one tree hill. If you go down the steps carry your bike (I don't care how good you are - this is simply to slippery & dangerous to ride). If you want to go up the 1000 steps my advice is to lock your bike up outside the park office and run up !! I know how much riders hate to run, but this is a very specific workout - stepping up onto those steps is like mashing on the pedals. If you wear a HRM you will see figures you probably won't get on the bike !! Whatever you decide to do it is well worth the time & effort to visit. Good luck Recommended Route: As for the other descriptions. The best way is to follow Burwood hwy and turn left into the park after you have gone under the railway bridge. Bike tracks also connect to here from Knox/Boronia & Rowville/Scoresby.

, from Melbourne Summary: Yeah this track is a really good adrenalin rush, but i really really really dont advise riding it on wet days, or if you suspect there to be other people on the steps. The steps are actually covered in moss, so it takes about 10 steps to bring you to a halt, by which time you will have mown down the innocent stair-walkers. Ride it if you are confident with stairs, just dont plan on stopping too quickly! Recommended Route: Ummm either ride up one of the trails that is parralel to 1000 stairs, or join the roadies and go via the tourist road... Check your melways. Other recommended trails in the same area: Sassafra creek trail,
