Downhiller Summary: Great DH mountain. Nothing is real easy here and I like that. Mostly black and double black runs. Steep challenging runs with optional gaps in places. Runs are not that well maintained and it makes it rough, rugged and classic old school rocky mountain riding. The blue room is the newer school flow line.
In addition to the other last review:
There is a dirt half pipe under the lift. It is set up with a step up to other hits, nice airs in there with some features to hit off.
Some non mapped runs that are even steeper then what is marked.
Not alot of runs but a great place to ride for a couple days. vert. for longest continuous run is around 1000 feet. Most runs either start 2/3 down or end 1/3 from bottom. Not bad but also not non stop 2000 vert runs.
I hear they are closing this lift and DH runs next year and opening the gondi and running new/refurbished trails with lots of wood features next year and more vert. See you there!!!
Went week day in mid summer this year, August 1st 2011, and only 4 other bikers. Friendly resort employees and other riders.
See you there. Recommended Route: All the black runs are fun.

Weekend Warrior Summary: The only Lift serviced Downhill trails for quite a ways, Big Sky consists of one lift and several trails, a good variety considering the size. With a few that mimic some of the local trails in the gallatin area, a few with small to medium sized ladder bridges and jumps and a few race style courses. The Trails are maintained to a higher standard earlier in the season but remain pretty good if not just a bit washed out twoards the end. Recommended Route: You can really hit all of the trails in one day with plenty of time to decide which one you want to ride more but Blue Room + War Dance have a few jumps and bridges that most of the other trails dont. Africa I believe is their race course and is fast and fun with the largest features in the park. Other recommended trails in the same area: Theres really not to many DH/FR trails in the area other than Leverich Canyon that I know of but depending on what your looking for it may be worth your time. Its a public trail about an hour away from Big Sky just south of Bozeman. More info can be found in the ID/WY/MT forums section.
