White Face

Loaded with tons of downhill(maybe I should say, all!). Mostly single track downhill with some very technical sections running down rock faces and through streams. Everything for the enthusiest to the expert here. I give it 5 stars!!!!!

Summary:
I had a great time on Whiteface last year. I was visiting from Canada and I'm used to the bike parks and trail networks in Alberta and British Columbia. I'm totally impressed with Whiteface. Trails were fast, flowy and technical. The staff were super friendly. If you live on the East Coast, go support Whiteface, you'll have a blast.

Summary:
Trails on Whiteface are the real deal for advanced cross country riders, downhill racers, and mountain bikers that want to go downhill and be challenged. I am mainly xc(I don't live close to any dh trails), and loved the technicalities. I hope they build more ramps, berms, and drops into the trails on the mountain, because this mountain is so awesome already that with its huge vertical, it could be the ultimate dh/freeride arena. All that is needed is a couple 5, 10, and 15-20 foot drops for the maniacs. Technical is great but most mountain bikers I know want to get air. As I rode down the mountain, I noticed that the dude who wrote the review that detailed what the road surface is like is right on. The trails at the top do curve alot as they plunge off the mountain. Don't think you can ride here and not crash. If you don't crash at least once, you're going too SLOW. Overall, these are the best trails I have ridden-period.

Summary:
We've been riding Whiteface since they started hosting riding, about 5 years now. Every year I come with a new and better bike, and I become a better rider, to the point that this year I'm buying a full DH ride. The trails are probably the best in this part of the country, with plenty of elevation and challenge for everyone. The crew that runs the shop, Mike, Elias and Pita are great guys, they are real riders, and they know the trails and conditions at all times. This place is perfect for some organized racing events.

It's all good...

Nothing beats Whiteface...

Summary:
Holy crap Whiteface is tall! Its gotta be at least 1000ft higher than any of the other east coast downhill places. They've got a good variety of trails ranging from the usual and sometimes necessary service/access roads to nice singletrack in the trees to wicked hard steep sections. The natural terrain there puts a couple of places in Vt to shame (I'll keep from naming them so I don't seem too biased). Overall a good mix of everything. You better have some riding skills before coming here though or you might take an ass whooping.

Recommended Route:
There was lots of great stuff. Where trail #26 turns into the trees has to be one of the hardest sections of trail I've seen anywhere. #24 and 25 were both great, winding through tress, lots of rocks, roots, and turns with some pretty steep spots. #27 was sweet as well, starting out down and accross some of the ski trails before turning into the trees and becoming rocky, rooty, steep, and technical. #3 "Slick Rock" was one of our favorites, great section with large exposed rock faces, just really fun and flowing. More toward the bottom #12 and #13 were easier singletrack in trees with a nice flow.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
We were stoked on our trip to Whiteface and we'll be going back real soon. Like the guy in the post before mine said, come on where are the riders? Show this place some support so it stays open. The mtn has amazing riding. I was a little surprised there weren't more riders there. Check it out, its more than worth the drive.
